Wrestlers go to state

Staff Report
It was an eventful few days last week for the four Newkirk wrestlers who took part in the state wrestling tournament in Tulsa.
Newkirk’s Vohn Williams ultimately was the only Newkirk wrestler to place, earning fourth at the Oklahoma 3A Wrestling State Championships as a sophomore at 175 lbs.
Graden Schieber and Brinlea Weant were the first to wrestle for Newkirk at the state tournament in Tulsa, taking the mat Feb. 26. Weant, Williams and Teagyn Beliel were still active on the second day of state.
Weant advanced into the consolation semi finals on Day 3 but came up short of a medal. Williams advanced to the third-place match but ultimately claimed fourth.
