Cline and Kubic headed to Girls State
Press Release
Two Newkirk girls will attend Oklahoma Girls State at University of Central Oklahoma May 24-29.
Acie Cline, the daughter of Holly and Macom Cline, is a young leader who thrives on community and hard work. A three-year member of the Newkirk FFA and a three-time coed cheer state champion, Acie balances the grit of competition with a dedication to academic excellence in the National Honor Society and the Gifted and Talented program.
While her community service projects are many, her favorite moments are spent at the annual spring community clean-up, where she enjoys seeing her neighbors unite to improve the town and celebrating afterwards with hot dogs at the fire station.
As the daughter of a veteran, Acie carries a deep respect for service and is known for being a thoughtful listener who is always ready to pitch in on any project.
Raylynn Kubik, daughter of Ross and Heather Kubik, is a dedicated student leader with a deep commitment to her school and community.
A four-year member of the FFA, she currently serves as the chapter’s Secretary, while simultaneously holding key leadership roles as Junior Class President, Student Council Public Relations Officer, and a member of the National Honor Society.
Beyond her academic and civic pursuits, Raylynn has brought spirit to the sidelines as a varsity cheerleader for the past three years. Among her many responsibilities, her role as Junior Class President has been particularly impactful, providing her with “endless service opportunities” ranging from organizing prom to coordinating various fundraisers and service events. However, her most cherished community activity remains Wreaths Across America, which she participates in alongside her grandfather and veteran, Floyd Branson.
Newkirk American Legion Auxiliary and Newkirk Business Club are sponsoring the girls and funding the cost to attend.
Delegates were selected based on moral character, leadership qualities, and an interest in government.
American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) departments nationwide host ALA Girls State, a program focused on responsible citizenship, leadership, and love for the ALA’s mission of serving veterans, military, and their families.
High school students who have completed their junior year are competitively selected and sponsored by American Legion Auxiliary units for this program, where they learn about the political process by electing officials for all levels of state government and actively running a mock government. The participants are assigned to mock cities and either the “Federalist Party” or “Nationalist Party.”
