Mullerschon, Lavers named NHS March Students of the Month

NEWKIRK — Newkirk High School (NHS) is excited to recognize students that exemplify the Newkirk ideals and this month the faculty and staff have selected Gina Mullerschon and Brady Lavers.

Mullerschon is the daughter of Angie and Uwe Mullerschon and is the host daughter of Brandie Choate. She is one of the foreign exchange students this year. Her activities include cheer, drama and yearbook. Her favorite subjects are cheer and drama. She says that cheer is a lot of fun and she loved cheering for football and basketball. Drama is also a lot of fun and she is excited to be a part of the play production in April.

She attributes her success in school to her friends and teachers. She said they are really nice and always support her.

Her future plans are to return to Germany and finish her schooling, then go to college.

Her advice to underclassmen is to spread kindness and positivity and to always have an open mind.

Lavers is the son of Kendra Molter and Toby Lavers. He is involved in football and wrestling and enjoys hunting and fishing.

His favorite subject in school is athletics because sports teaches you life lessons. Lavers was selected as the Tiger football MVP his junior year and was Football Homecoming King his senior year.

He attributes his success in school to athletics because to participate you have to make sure you have good grades.

After high school his future plans include attending Oklahoma Technical College to pursue a career in diesel mechanics. His advice to underclassmen is to have pride in your school and community.
