Newkirk Main Street scarecrow contest returns for 2021

NEWKIRK — Autumn is already in the air, and many people are dusting off their fall decorations to celebrate the season. Those include many businesses along Downtown Main Street, as they are bringing out their scarecrows and other festive items for Newkirk Main Street’s (NMS) annual scarecrow contest, with one special display chosen by the community itself.

Contest categories are Best Business Theme, Most Original, Funniest, Most Creative, Spookiest and Best Display. Newkirk Main Street volunteers will judge the scarecrows after 3:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18.

For People’s Choice, pictures of each scarecrow can be sent to NMS, either by posting on their Facebook page or e-mailed to newkirkmainstreet@gmail.com. NMS also can take the photographs.

Ballots for People’s Choice will be at Equity Bank.
