Several Newkirk youths beat the heat Thursday morning at the Library’s weekly Summer Reading Program. The students listened as Librarian Marcina Overman read “The Mermaid,” by Jan Barrett, then crafted their own special octopus, in keeping with a marine theme. The event continues through the end of the month.
