New book posted in StoryWalk

Press Release

NEWKIRK — The StoryWalk has proven a popular attraction in Downtown Newkirk, allowing people to get out of the house and read a book while exercising. Residents are once again encouraged to take an early morning or late evening stroll as the Newkirk Public Library has installed a new children’s book along StoryWalk.

The picture book, “The Couch Potato,” by Jory John and Pete Oswald is about Potato, who does everything from his couch. He talks to friends, watches TV and plays video games, all from his ‘sea of shimmering screens.’

“Discover what the Couch Potato gets to do when the electricity goes out,” said Marcina Overman, librarian.

NPL has a copy of “The Couch Potato” ready for checkout, and it can also be found on Libby for those who cannot make the Storywalk.

The Library is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m Friday and Saturday 1 – 5 p.m., and offers the free Libby app by Overdrive for smart phones, iPads and Kindles with books, audiobooks, magazines and movies.
