Summer Reading Program

Numerous community youth, including students from Kildare Public School, met at the Newkirk Public Library Thursday, June 24 for the weekly Summer Reading Program. Librarian Marcina Overman read “Interrupting Chicken” and “Interrupting Chicken and the Elephant of Surprise,” by David Ezra Stein and “Juniper’s Butterfly Garden,” by Autumn Heigle. The students then crafted their own storytelling scene featuring the “Interrupting Chicken.” The students also received free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo. Marilyn Nash was the winner of the quilt raffle, which was created by Newkirk Crazy Quilters.
