Kimmells celebrate 70th anniversary

NEWKIRK — Kenneth and Winifred “Winnie” Kimmell reached a milestone in their lives recently, when they celebrated their 70thwedding anniversary Sept. 2.
The couple were united in marriage on Sept. 2, 1950 at the Assembly of God Church in Newkirk, by Rev. Noel C. Smith, of Ponca City.
Kenneth, the son of Lennie and Gertie Kimmell, and Winifred, the daughter of Clyde and Mary Bryson, began their 70-year journey together, which has taken them all over Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Wyoming.
Kenneth began working for Boeing Aircraft, followed by the Santa Fe railroad, eventually spending the majority of his working life with J.M. Huber Oil Corp. for 42 years. Winnie worked for Southwestern Bell, Stromberg Carlson, Healdton Water Department and finally, Sutherland Well Service.
To this union were born five children: Nancy, Roy Wayne (deceased), Judy, Rodney (deceased and Janice.
Ken and Winnie have been richly blessed with 10 wonderful grandchildren, and currently 17 great grandchildren. The couple attribute the longevity of their marriage to putting God first.
