NEWKIRK — October has arrived, and the count is down to Halloween, only a few weeks away, when children will dress up in scary costumes and parade the streets for candy. The Chamber of Commerce is stepping for the children with the popular Monsters on Main Street program, to be held Halloween night at the Kay County Courthouse parking lot.
The goal is to provide a family environment for Halloween.

“We’re sponsoring a safe place for kids to trick or treat, at the Kay County Courthouse,” said Chamber Secretary Glenna Blair.
The event begins at 5 p.m. in the north parking lot where numerous vehicles and stands will be set up to attract the children and families participating. Businesses are welcome to have a stand, as well as civic groups, religious organizations and individuals.

A costume contest will begin at 5:30. Age divisions include birth-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13- adult.

For more information, contact the Chamber of Commerce, at (580) 362-2155 or e-mail newkirkchamber@gmail.com.
