FFA members take part in parade

Press Release
Newkirk FFA members took part in the 67th annual 101 Wild West Rodeo Parade held in Ponca City last week.
During the parade, Newkirk FFA and the Ponca City FFA Chapter members helped the Akdar Shriners pass out popcorn.
On opening night of the rodeo, Newkirk FFA members also had the honor of helping carry the largest legal American flag in the United States during the opening ceremonies of the 101 Wild West Rodeo in Ponca City.
They were joined by members of Tonkawa FFA, The Ponca City FFA Chapter, Governor Kevin Stitt, the Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleaders, and many other volunteers.
According to a Newkirk FFA spokesperson, the flag weighs 300 pounds in the box. Once unfurled in the arena, the force of the wind and aerodynamics makes it feel closer to 3,000 pounds.
The Newkirk FFA thanked Shawndra Sheik and the 101 Wild West Rodeo Board of Directors for inviting Newkirk FFA to be part of this special tradition.
