The Kay County Courthouse Square was adorned with American Flags last weekend, as the United States celebrated Independence Day Sunday, July 4. Citizens shot off fireworks at the Newkirk Country Club, and some attended the display at Lake Ponca. The holiday was observed Monday, July 5 as the city of Newkirk and Kay County offices were closed.
