NEWKIRK — Independence Day is only weeks away, and Newkirk Main Street is inviting the public to get in a festive spirit with a special tie-dye shirt event at 10 a.m. in Hole in the Wall Park Saturday, June 26.

The new event is a NMS organizational committee fundraiser.

“We’re wanting to bring some fun to the Downtown Square for the kids to participate in, and have something to wear for the Fourth of July,” said committee member Holly Cline.

NMS will provide all materials, including blue and red dye, as well as the t-shirts, which cost $15 up to XL. Shirts sized XXL and larger cost $20. Participants are encouraged to pre-pay on NMS’ Facebook page to guarantee a size.

Main Street Bakery will provide water and donut holes for attendees.

Participants will also be able to take advantage of other attractions in Downtown Newkirk.

“Hopefully people will eat at one of our restaurants afterward, help us raise a little money and get families involved in the event.” Cline said.

For more information, including paying for a shirt size, visit NMS’s Facebook page, or call (580) 362-2377.
