Ponca City man arrested for domestic violence, firing on officers

A Ponca City man remains in custody at the Kay County Jail following his arrest last Thursday evening.
According to a press release from the Ponca City Police Department, shortly before midnight last Thursday, their officers responded to the report of a domestic disturbance in the 1500 Block of Shirlee Ave. When the officers arrived in the area, they spoke with a female and child who both live at the residence. The female reported to the officers that she and her daughter ran from their residence after 48-year-old Douglas M. Narron assaulted and choked the child in the home.
According to the press release, when officers went to the home to make contact with Narron, he opened fire on them from the front door of the residence. Officers immediately returned fire and Narron retreated back into the home. A short time later, Narron voluntarily exited the home and threw his firearm down but continued to advance towards the officers. Officers deployed Tasers on Narron at the time and were able to take him into custody.
Narron was transported to Integris Ponca City where he was treated for injuries sustained during the incident. After receiving treatment at the hospital, Narron was transported the Ponca City Police Department where he has been booked in for the following charges: Child Abuse, Reckless Conduct with a Firearm While Endangering Others, Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated, Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, and four Counts of Shooting with Intent to Kill.
None of the involved officers sustained injuries and the reporting female, along with her child, are now safe. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has responded to assist with this investigation.
