Lemonade toward cheer gear

Last week, 10-year old Newkirk resident Rykan Janzen started up his own lemonade stand to help earn the $300 to purchase cheer gear, which includes the uniform, practice uniform, jacket, shoes, and a mega phone.
“It wasn’t just something he wanted to have handed to him,” his mother, Teresa Lucas, said. “He genuinely wanted to be part of making it happen. He’s been out there working hard, staying consistent, and putting in real effort every time. You can tell it means a lot to him, not just the end goal, but the process of working for it.”
Janzen also ran a lemonade stand last year where he and his family live near Lion’s Park.
His next goal, she said, is selling 25 dozen cookies. As of Monday night, 28 people had signed up for them.
“He wanted to go around asking people. He even wanted me to go to the vet, which I did since he was so dedicated, of course,” Lucas said.
The cookies are $20 per dozen.
