Staff Report
US 77 and South Street in Newkirk were closed for several hours May 20 when a semi-truck carrying wind turbine parts broke down.
According to the Kay County Sheriff’s Office, the oversized load required a crane to transfer the equipment. Traffic was diverted north on Plum and west on 12th to Pleasantview to get back onto US 77.
According to Kay County Emergency Management, the trailer, carrying parts for a wind turbine, came apart. Two semis were brought in to assemble the crane, and the load and vehicle were removed from the highway. The highway was re-opened hours later.
The semi was owned by JA squared Ventures LLC, Greenville, TX.
Kay County Emergency Management reported only small amounts of damage to the road.
