NEWKIRK — Lisa Kubik has spent the past few decades serving the accounting and tax services of area agricultural producers at Lisa Kubik Accounting. She is now handing the business over to associate Stacey Lamar, as Kubik faces a new future in retirement.

Kubik’s retirement will be effective June 30, and Lamar will take over as Stacey K. Lamar CPA.
“Stacey is acquiring my practices, and she’s going to stay in the same location,” Kubik said.

Kubik began her practice about 39 years ago, relying on word of mouth and newspaper ads to help spread the news of her business. She initially worked out of her house.

“I rented an upstairs office about McCarty and Rigdon, then moved to an office at Eisenhauer Insurance before buying the (current) building in 1988,” she said.

She focused on accounting and tax preparation for area agricultural producers, as well as serving as city treasurer for the city of Newkirk.

“Agriculture is the specialty we have here. We do accounting as well as income tax preparation,” she said.

Kubik is stepping into retirement to spend more time with family, although she is not retiring from city treasurer.

“I’m retiring to spend more time on the ranch and with my grandkids,” she said. “I’ve enjoyed it. I like the small town and the clients that I have, and have been able to have the ability to raise children while self-employed. Newkirk is such a wonderful town.”

Lamar has been with the practice for about six years and looks forward taking to business forward into the future.

“I am happy to be continuing here in in the community because I live clients we have and I’m simply happy to keep it here,” Lamar said.
