Tiger wrestling looking forward to new season

NEWKIRK — The Newkirk Tiger wrestling program is looking forward to the new season, and is set to open tonight in Ponca City against the Wildcats at 6 p.m.

Brady Oldfield is a great looking freshman with an abundance of potential. He works very hard in practice and is showing improvement daily.

Senior Dawson Guidry has a lot of mat experience whose talent and potential could very well place him at the top of the podium in late February.

Freshman Logan Huster is tough as nails, with a lot of raw talent. The coaches look for him to be very competitive and a great addition to the high school roster.

Senior Luis Menchaca has what it takes to win. He is very competitive and coaches look for big things from him this year.

Sophomore Shaden Pankey has been plagued by injuries, however it is believed his athletic abilities will be a huge benefit to the team as he learns the sport of wrestling.

Junior Josiah Owen is very strong and athletic. He is going to win a lot of matches this year. He picks up wrestling quickly.

Junior Jace Thompson has the best technique in the wrestling room. He has been working at getting stronger and tougher all fall. Coaches are looking for a lot of good things from him.

Senior Clayton Sargent has a lot of ability. They are looking for this four year starter to finish his final year strong.

Junior Ryan Axelson is doing an excellent job of getting into wrestling shape and getting down to his appropriate weight class. Everyone is counting on him to win a lot of matches this year.

Junior James Newman is very athletic and the team is very much counting on him to be wrestling in the state tournament.

Senior Dakota Fiarris is really helping the team to reach their goals. Fiarris is a great kid who is fun and pleasant to be around. He is a great teammate.
