The Newkirk High School Co-Ed Cheer team met at the city commission meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 as Mayor Dereck Cassady read a proclamation recognizing the day as Newkirk High School Cheer Day in honor of winning four-straight state championships, Sept. 25. The Newkirk Board of Education also honored them at their meeting.
