Two hospitalized following head-on collision

NEWKIRK — Two patients were hospitalized early Tuesday morning, May 18 in a head-on collision on North Main Street.

The Newkirk EMS service received a call about 6:10 a.m. of an accident near Fifth Street and Main.

“When we arrived, we found it to be a head-on collision in the general area,” said Fire Chief Adam Longcrier.

EMTs transported two patients to AllianceHealth Ponca City, where they were admitted with multiple injuries. One victim had head and back injuries, while the second victim had leg, back hip and neck injuries. No other injuries were reported.

“We believe the case was driving under the influence,” he said.
