NEWKIRK — The baseball field at Lions Park was once the spot for local youth baseball in the community, but it has recently sat dormant for many upgrades. The field is now open, however, and community supporters are celebrating with games all day Saturday, May 1.

“It’s been many years since youth baseball games have been played at Newkirk’s own Lions Park ball field.  The field has been a work in progress for the past two years, and (now) it’s complete,” said Christine Wood. “We are celebrating this Saturday, May 1 with a day of baseball at the park. We invite you to join us and enjoy some sunshine and baseball.”

The day begins at 10 a.m. with 6 and up teams, followed by 8 and up at 11:15. A short lunch will take place at 12:30 p.m., followed by 10 and up at 1, and 12 ad up at 2:30.
