Press Release

BLACKWELL — The Lady Tigers high school softball team is among five recipients of a K-UP grant, to be used to benefit the bleachers of the team.

The K-UP Board met on Monday, July 20 to review the submitted grant applications, and out of the five applications received, the Board awarded grants to the following organizations:

Newkirk High School Fast Pitch Softball – $2,500 for awnings over bleachers.

Operation Blessing –  $1,500 to restock their pantry for holiday food baskets.

Billings Volunteer Fire Department -. $2,000 for a security system.

Marland Children’s Home –  $2,500 to start the Wishing Well Fund.

Oklahoma Youth Ranch Rodeo –  $1,600 for a new sound system.

K-UP Foundation is supported by Kay Electric members who voluntarily round up their electric bills to the next dollar, donating the few cents difference to the foundation. Utility bill roundup programs help support rural fire departments and charities who are often operating on a limited budget.
