Kay County sale to be held at Mark Branch Fieldhouse

Press Release

NEWKIRK — The Kay County Treasurer would like to remind the public that the treasurer’s office will be conducting the annual Tax Resale on Monday, June 8 at the Mark Branch Fieldhouse in Newkirk beginning at 9 a.m. This sale will be for property that is being sold for several years of delinquent tax per state statute Title 68 Section 3129.

Anyone attending the sale will have their temperature taken before entering the Fieldhouse. All precautions will be taken with the public and county employee’s health in mind. It will be the responsibility of anyone attending the sale to maintain the recommended 6 ft. of space between attendees and to bring their own mask. This office would like to thank Superintendent Brady Barnes of Newkirk Public Schools for allowing the county to use their facility to help safely accommodate this sale.

The property will be sold to the highest bidder for cash only. All property must be sold for the sum not less than two-thirds of the assessed value of such real estate or for the amount of tax, penalties, interest and cost due on such property, whichever is the lesser amount.

The property is transferred by Treasurer’s deed. The real estate is being sold in “as is” condition without any warranty, either expressed or implied, as to the nature, condition or description of the property. The treasurer’s office has done extensive research and notification of these properties and will provide information to perspective buyers. Buyers, however, shall rely entirely on their own information, judgment and inspection of the property and records.

A list of the available properties may be obtained in the office, on-line at www.kaycounty.org or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the treasurer’s office. This list will include addresses, or the approximate addresses, of vacant lots for these properties. After obtaining the list, persons interested in these properties may contact the Treasurer’s office for more information as to addresses or location of said properties.

The courthouse is currently closed to the public until further notice but the treasurer’s office can be reached by calling (580) 362-2523. Treasurer Christy Kennedy can be reached by e-mail at ckennedy@courthouse.kay.ok.usor First Deputy Rhonda Stephens at rstephens@courthouse.kay.ok.us.
