Newkirk Main Street to host legislative forum Feb. 28

NEWKIRK — Newkirk Main Street is proud to host a Legislative Review scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28. The start time is 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:15.

Senator Bill Coleman and Representative John Pfeiffer, along with field representatives from Senator James Lankford’s and Congressman Frank Lucas’ offices will be in attendance to meet with local constituents to review the current legislative session.

Senator Bill Coleman, Oklahoma Senate District 10-R, owns and operates Team Radio Marketing in Ponca City. Coleman is the past chairman of the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, past board member of the National Association of Broadcasters in Washington, D.C. and a current member of the International Broadcasters Idea Bank. He currently serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Health & Human Services, General Government and Transportation committees. His wife, Helen is a financial advisor and former schoolteacher.

Representative John Pfeiffer, House of Representatives District 38-R, is from Orlando and a fifth-generation farmer and rancher. He is a U.S. Marine Corps. Vetera,n and attended Oklahoma State University (OSU). He currently serves as Deputy Floor Leader and is a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development, Appropriations and Budget, Energy & Natural Resourcescommittees. He also serves on the Joint Committee on Appropriations and Budget.

Field Representative Tanner Roberts has been working for U.S. Sen. Lankford since December 2017. An Enid native and Oklahoma State University graduate, Roberts has served as intern at the State Chamber of Oklahoma, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the U.S. House of Representatives.

United States Sen. James Lankford (R) was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014, before which he served four years in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to entering politics, Lankford served students and families for more than 20 years in ministry, including 15 years as the Director of Student Ministry for the Baptist Convention of Oklahoma and Director of the Falls Creek Youth Camp. Senator Lankford serves as chairman of the Regulatory Affairs and Federal Management Subcommittee and serves on the Senate Committee on Finance, Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, Senate Committee on Appropriations and Senate Committee on Indian Affairs.

Lankford lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Cindy who is also his high school sweetheart.

Field Representative Bennet Beard has been working for U.S. Congressman Frank Lucas since May 2017. A graduate of the University of Mississippi, he is the former director of Development and director of Communications for the Oklahoma Republican Party.

U.S. Congressman Frank Lucas (R) is a fifth generation Oklahoman whose family has lived and farmed here for more than 100 years. Raised in Cheyenne, Lucas is an OSU agricultural economics graduate. Lucas serves on the Committee on Agriculture, Committee on Financial Services including the Subcommittee on Capital Markets and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology. He also serves on the Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics and Subcommittee on Energy and Environment.

Lucas and his wife Lynda have three children and three grandchildren. The Lucas family belongs to the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne.
