Newkirk wrestling looking solid
NEWKIRK — The Newkirk Tigers finished off the first semester with a dominating win over the number-10 ranked Pawnee Black bears on Dec. 19.
“We finished the year off with a good dual and our guys are getting better every time they step on the mat, but we need to keep making strides as the year progresses to get to our ultimate goal” said Coach Bryan Dutton remarked.
Coming off of Christmas break, the Tigers hit the ground running beginning with Metro Christian on Jan. 7 and then take on the number eighth-ranked Pawhuska Huskies Jan. 9 at Pawhuska.
“Our dual with Pawhuska will tell us a lot more about our team,” Dutton said. “This is a huge dual for us as it could decide who goes to dual state. We are excited to go into their house and right a wrong from last year.”
Your Tigers will travel to the Cushing tournament the following day capping off a full week of wrestling.
