NEWKIRK — The Newkirk Chamber of Commerce works hard each year to promote the local business community, but also seeks ways to bring everyone in the community out the get involved. The 2019 year has drawn to a close, and Chamber representatives are preparing the annual banquet to reflect on the year, and recognize businesses and their supporters.
The 2020 theme is “Focus on the Future,” and the Chamber is pledging to focus on putting Newkirk first.
“In 2020, our focus as a chamber will be to focus on putting businesses in our buildings, and supporting our current businesses,” said President Debbie Leaming. “We hope our residents can put Newkirk first, educating themselves and others to not just shop or buy Newkirk first, in every way, they choose Newkirk first. If they see something in another community they enjoy, bring it to our attention. That’s our goal for the year.”
The banquet will take place Jan. 20 at the Senior Citizen Center, starting at 6 p.m.
Leaming will present a year-in-review of the Chamber’s activities during the previous year, but the highlight of the banquet will be the recognition of the Newkirk Person of the Year and Businessperson of the Year. The recipients will be chosen based on nominations by community members.
Tickets are $25 for the event, or a table of eight may be reserved for $150. For more information, including ticket reservations, contact the Chamber, at (580) 362-2155.
