Newkirk FFA attends Oklahoma Alumni Leadership Camp

WAGONER, Okla. — The Newkirk FFA chapter was represented at the 46th annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp at the Tulakogee Conference Center on Fort Gibson Lake near Wagoner, Okla.
More than 1,600 FFA members from more than 300 Oklahoma FFA chapters register to
attend one of four three and one-half-day sessions July 1-14. Those who attended the first session
included Brylee Thiel, Haiden Huster, Haley Merhoff, Hunter Morgan, Wyatt Smith, Matthew
Mayse and Devon Littledeer.
The 2019 camp engages FFA members in fun-filled, action-packed activities focused
on personal, team and service leadership.
Special presenters were kick-off speaker Bill Cordes, Kansas; keynote speaker and
magician, Brad Barton, Utah; and hypnotist Dr. Al Snyder, Wisconsin.
Brylee Thiel Newkirk FFA president/senior,
“This was my last year at alumni camp, and it has been one of the best experiences of my
FFA career,” said Brylee Thiel, Newkirk FFA President and senior student. “Even though it was my last year as a camper I will apply to be a small group leader.”
Matthew Mayse Newkirk FFA parliamentarian and sophomore, added, “This was my first year to attend alumni camp, and I would like to say it has been one of the best experiences of my FFA career so far. It really helped me to break out of my shell and meet new people.”
Haley Merhoff, Newkirk FFA secretary and junior, said, “This year was my third year attending alumni camp, I have loved going every year so far and hope to make my senior year my best year yet. I enjoy meeting all the new people and have loved creating many friendships as well as memories.”
Haiden Huster Newkirk FFA reporter and junior, also enjoyed the experience.
“This has been my second year attending alumni camp, and let me tell you it is for sure
the happiest place on earth. I love being able to meet new people and learn new skills that I can
involve into my life. I hope to make my senior year the most memorable year yet!”
The leadership camp is presented by the Oklahoma FFA Alumni Association with
corporate financial sponsorship provided by Sonic – America’s Drive-In, Trusted Choice
Independent Insurance Agents and Lopez Foods.
