Rita Sue Anders, Newkirk resident, died early Friday morning, April 26, 2019 in Alliance Health Ponca City. She was 47.
The daughter of Ira Gene Laney and Judy An (Cheever) Laney, Rita was born Aug. 4, 1971 in Marion, Kan. She grew up and received her education in Chace County, Kansas.
Rita’s work history includes employment with Kit Manufacturing in McPherson, Kan., employment as dietitian in nursing homes for a number of years, and working at First Council Casino.
On Feb. 1, 2008 Rita and Joe John Andres were married in Cottonwood Falls, Kan. They established their home in Newkirk where they have since resided.
Rita enjoyed gardening and fishing. She had a passion for pet rescue.
Rita is survived by her husband Joe; her mother Judy Laney of Newkirk; her siblings, Hope M. Laney, Brenda and Michael O’Neill, Dallas Laney and Doug Laney, all of Newkirk; a number of nephews and nieces including Brandi Fogg of Wichita, David Buttelof Newkirk, Lucas O’Neill of Oklahoma City, Kaitlybnn Thompson, Victorie Thompson, Blake Easton and Sophia Loney, all of Newkirk; two uncles, Ronald Cheever and Dennis Cheever; and a great many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, and her grandparents.
Cremation has been effected. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 in the Assembly of God in Newkirk with the Rev. Dennis Jordan officiating. Interment took place at a later time in the Chelsea Cemetery, Chelsea, Kan.
