Class Of 1962 Holds Reunion
Members of the Newkirk High School class of 1962 met at the
Main Street Bakery on Friday morning and later they met at Betty
Greenwood's home, where they enjoyed pizza. They attended the
alumni assembly and rode on a float in the homecoming parade.
They also met at the FFA hamburger fry prior to going to the
football game.
Saturday morning, they attended the alumni bruch and at noon
they met at the home of Mary Schuchman for a snack lunch. An
evening meal was served to the class at the Heritage Center by
Stagecoach Bar-B-Q. Bill Merhoff won a Newkirk Afghan and Robert
Stuemky, Bobby Johnstone and Glenda Newman Hampton won the other
door prizes. Donnie Huffman of Arkansas City performed 1950s
and 60s music for the group after the meal.
Class members enjoyed the evening as they looked at photo albums
and reminisced about the good old days. Thirty-three classmates
attended and came from as far away as California and Florida.
The planning committee members were Susie Deibler, Mary Schuchman,
Myra Stuemky, Betty Greenwood, Karen Dye, Tom Myatt, Dick Shafer,
Joanne Ford and Janice Shinn.
