Newkirk Crazy Quilters
The Newkirk Crazy Quilters will have its next meeting Tuesday,
Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Meetings are always held in the classroom above
Rippit Quilt Shoppe.
Scheduled for this month is a demonstration on how to make a
fabric Christmas ball by Irene Suckley. Everyone needs to bring
about 70 2-1/2 inch squares. The rest of the supplies will be
provided.
The Crazy Quilters would like to thank the community for the
wonderful response and support of the quilt show on Charlie Adams
Day. It was a great success and a chance to meet many new quilters.
VFW Auxiliary
The VFW Auxiliary will hold a bake sale Saturday in front
of R&G Style Shoppe.
The auxiliary regular monthly meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Oct.
16 at the VFW hall.
Altar Society
The Altar Society of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk
will hold its annual Fall Bazaar and Auction at 7 p.m. Saturday
at the St. Francis Catholic Gym on Eighth and Academy in Newkirk.
This year, there will also be a bake sale. Hot dogs and sloppy
joes will be available beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The auction will begin at 7:30 p.m., with Wayne Leven as auctioneer.
The auction will feature lots of homemade crafts and gifts. The
public is invited to take part in this event. Proceeds from the
auction and meal will go to the Newkirk Council of Human Needs
and to promote the work of the Altar Society at St. Francis.
Support Group
The Kay County Diabetes Support Group will meet at 7 a.m.
Tuesday at the Ponca City Medical Center Conference Room C.
Dr. Michael Schiff, local cardiologist, will give the program,
"Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease."
Dr. Schiff began practicing in Ponca City in July 2004 because
he wanted to practice in a place where his presence would make
a difference. He helped establish the cardiac cath lab at the
hospital.
