Coach Larimer Offers Boys' Hoops Camps

Newkirk High School Head Boys' Basketball Coach Brad Larimer will offer basketball camps for boys entering grades 2-9 over Tuesday, May 29-Friday, June 1. A young boys' camp (grades 2-5) will start at 8:00am each day and last until 10:00am at Mark Branch Fieldhouse, then a junior high boys' camp will follow from 10:00am until noon each day.
The camps will be under the direction of Coach Larimer with assistance from former and current high school players. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals of the game, including ball-handling, passing, dribbling, shooting, and defense.
Each camper must have basketball shoes. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and basketball as part of the fee for the camp. Contact Coach Larimer at (580) 765-2561 or (580) 761-1958 for more details.

Busy Summer Set For Tigers

To prepare for the 2007-08 season at Newkirk High School, boys' basketball players will embark on two new experiences then conclude the summer in a way they've become accustomed. The Tigers will compete in two summer leagues and a team camp during the next two months.
Over five dates in a two-week period from Tuesday, May 22-Monday, June 4, the Tigers will participate in an eight-team summer league at Pawhuska, playing two times each evening. The NHS boys will square off with Barnsdall, Copan, Hominy, Nowata, Pawhuska, Pawhuska's junior varsity, and Woodland. See Newkirk's schedule below.
Then they will go to Ponca City for a condensed summer league of nine games packed into three days over Wednesday-Friday, June 13-15. The PC league features a total of 13 teams, including three from PC and two from Frontier, plus one each from Blackwell, Enid, Perkins-Tryon, Perry, Pond Creek-Hunter, Ripley, and Tonkawa. See Newkirk's schedule below.
To wrap up the summer over Friday-Sunday, July 13-15, NHS Head Boys' Basketball Coach Brad Larimer will take the Tigers to the familiar destination of Frontier Team Camp in Red Rock. A schedule will not be available until the days leading up to the camp, but the Tigers will also play multiple games each day in the camp setting that should push their summer total over 25.
