Derrick Ray Collyar
Derrick Ray Collyar, resident of Corpus Christi, TX, and formerly
of Newkirk, died Saturday, June 2, 2007 in Memorial Regional
Hospital, Corpus Christi. He was 44.
The son of Wayne Leroy and June Kay (Perkins) Collyar, Derrick
was born Feb. 20, 1963 in Blackwell. He grew up in Newkirk
and attended Newkirk schools until he was 16. At that time
he moved with his family to Corpus Christi, and he attended
Del Mar Vocational Technology School there. After receiving
certification as an auto mechanic, he was employed in his field
in Corpus Christi. He also was employed at the Chapman Ranch.
On the side he enjoyed working in carpentry.
Derrick was a member of the Gardendale Baptist Church in Corpus
Christi.
He liked to joke and laugh, and he had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by three daughters, Kara Collyar of Corpus Christi,
Katherine Heinz and her husband Eric of Honolulu, Hawaii and
Kelli Collyar of Abilene, KS; one brother, David Collyar of
Richland, MO; on sister, Tammy Cline of Ponca City; and two
grandchildren, David Juarez of Corpus Christi and Meliyah Heinz
of Honolulu.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
Mr. Collyar was cremated. Graveside service for his cremains
will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9 in the Newkirk Cemetery
with Danny W. Cornish officiating. Miler-Stahl Funeral Service
is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary bearers will be his best friends while in Newkirk, Terry
Horinek, Pat Kiser and Jim Golay.
The family will be at 301 S. Maple, Newkirk on the afternoon
of the service.
